Pencil Sketch Portraits – 1

Hello everyone! I had probably told you earlier, that along with reading books and writing stuff, I also enjoy painting and sketching from time to time. When it come to pencil sketches, I usually prefer doing portraits of different celebrities, but have also sketched other things. Today, I am going to share with you a couple of pencil sketch portraits that I have done. I hope you like them.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni:

pencil sketch

This is a portrait of the cricketing legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He is a former Indian ricket captain, and is also the most successful captain in cricketing history. He has won all major world titles for his team, and was the first ever captain to lift the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. For this sketch, I have used a variety of different sketching pencils ranging from HB and B, to 6B. This is one of my first portraits, and as you can see, the likeness is not very exact. This was done a couple of years ago and I had not got a hang of it yet. But nevertheless, this is not an eyesore, at least, even if I do say so myself.

Varun Dhawan:

pencil sketch

This is a pencil sketch of Varun Dhawan, a Bollywood actor. The likeness in this one is a little better than the previous one. I have used the same kind of pencils as in the above, namely B, 2B, 4B, and 6B. I have not used an HB pencil in this. For the shades and the shadows, I have just smudged the area with my finger after rubbing it on a small dark circle created by a 6B pencil on another paper. When I had finished with this, I was quite happy with myself . Then a couple of days later, I was looking at this sketch and as I kept looking, I couldn’t help thinking that this sketch bore an uncanny resemblance to Nick Jonas. And the I realized that Varun Dhawan and Nick Jonas actually have a lot of common features, like the shape of the face, and hairstyle. It surprised me a lot and think it will surprise you, too.

So, that’s it for today, everyone! I hope you liked today’s pencil sketch portraits. I will be back soon with more of my artwork, stories, and reviews.
