ArinGram – Chasing Stories

Comparing the merits of visual entertainment and the printed word is much like asking whether Ronaldo is better than Messi and vice-versa. It is a difficult subject and will not be tackled here. However, in this blog you will find a champion of stories – stories that are written, not shown. You are invited to join this community, and chase stories you love the most. Browse through the blog’s book review, general relevant information and original short stories. Stay entertained while you search for your next read.

Book readers are special people, and they will always turn to books as the ultimate pleasure. Those who do not read are the unfortunate ones. There is nothing wrong with them; but they are missing out on one of life’s compensations and rewards. A great book is a friend that never lets you down. You can return to it again and again and the joy first derived from it will still be there.

The Printing Press

In 1440, a goldsmith from Mainz, Germany, invented a machine that would revolutionize the art of the printed word forever. Johannes Gutenberg had modified the existing screw-press to create the world’s first mechanical printing press.

The Chinese and the Korean had already invented printing mechanisms centuries ago. However, they never achieved much popularity in the west and restricted themselves to East Asia. Gutenberg’s press was the first to be widely used across the world. It could print a whopping 3600 pages per day, as compared to the 40 by hand-printing, and even fewer by hand-copying.
