Unbox Season I
Glad to announce that season one has concluded successfully – The Unbox Short Stories book received widespread participation from volunteer writers and illustrators. The book was then gifted to children at events and received lots of appreciation and encouragement from the audiences it reached.

I believe that reading for pleasure is not a luxury, it’s a necessity and every child should have access to reading more than academic books. Reading is for all and is a resource for exposure. I want to collaborate with you all to create new stories and illustrations for them. I will be making them into books to be given away to children.
Please volunteer and submit original short stories or illustrations for children that anyone can freely read and share. I will knit together your contributions, as writers, and illustrators to produce the short stories. These stories will then be converted into open-licensed books. Next, they will be donated for the benefit of children and will be shared online as well.
When children read these books, it will not only open up more worlds than the ones they know and gain perspectives; but also help reduce the current (covid-19) pandemic stress. Furthermore, owning books is an important factor in their holistic development and success. So become a part of their story!
Writers / Authors
Please volunteer your time to write a new short story for children. A simple yet interestingly woven story will give immense joy to any child.
Selected stories will be compiled into a book which will be donated to benefit children. You will receive the link to the e-book along with the source to the physical book. You may also print and/or donate the book if you wish.
The story book will include due credits to the writers and illustrators for their work. No monetary contributions or benefits involved.
Story Guidelines
- You will be writing for children aged between 8 and 15 years
- Word limit is up to 1500 words per story
- Include your name, email & mobile number at the end of each story
- Stories should be engaging and fun/interesting
- Submit new/original story/stories
- Not copied, not published or concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere

Illustrators / Artists
Please volunteer to create illustrations complementing the storyline. The illustrations will not only help in comprehension of written stories but will also make them more engaging.
Selected illustrations will be placed alongside the respective stories and compiled into a book which will be donated to benefit children. You will receive the link to the e-book along with the source to the physical book. You may also print and/or donate the book if you wish.

Illustration Guidelines
- You will be illustrating stories meant for children between 8 and 15 years
- Illustration/sketch should match the storyline (which will be provided to you)
- You can volunteer to design for one or more short stories
- Submit new/original sketches/illustrations
- Not copied, not published or concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere

This collection of beautifully illustrated short stories has been put together by passionate volunteers, from 10-year-olds to 50-year-olds. The stories will pique your interest, arouse your curiosity, give you ideas, inspire you, and, most importantly, it will give wings to your imagination. They and their illustrations will keep you entertained, and help take you to another world – the world of imagination, where creativity knows no bounds.
